Google Chrome Operating System

gos-logoI got this  new information from twitter.  A new operating for netbooks – “Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system.  According to it’s unofficial  website that later this year they will open-source its code, andnetbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010. The software architecture is simple — Google Chrome running within a new windowing system on top of a Linux kernel.”

This is just a short information that I read from their website. We will be waiting for its release and try it’s features.  For me it is too early to make comparison on its effectiveness compared to other operating systems.

It’s interesting but I’m not sure if they can stand a chance against Microsoft. The question is if they are trying to get all regular users to start using their OS or if they are going to niche themselves.
